Who processes your data

The data controller is ΜΑΜΑΗ ΜΑΡΙΑ ΣΤΑΥΡΟΣ, sole proprietorship, VAT number EL027534280, Gavrio 84501, Andros, Greece, phone +30 697 716 6774, email info@discoverandros.gr, which runs Discover Andros Rentals in Gavrio. For anything about your personal data, contact us at that email or phone number. This policy covers the website discoverandros.gr only.

What data we collect

We only collect what you fill in on the availability form:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Pick-up and return dates and times, and the car you are interested in
  • Where you are staying on Andros, the accommodation or the area
  • Your message, if you write one

The website does not take payments, so we do not collect card or payment details through it, and we do not build visitor profiles.

If you accept statistics cookies in the consent window, Google Analytics records details of your visit with a random identifier stored in a cookie: which pages you read, your approximate country and city, your device and browser, where you came from, and whether you sent a request or tapped our phone number or email. It does not show us who you are and does not store your IP address. We also use Google Search Console, which shows us in aggregate which searches the website appears in and places no cookies on your device.

Why we process it and on what legal basis

We use the form details for one purpose only: to answer your availability request and to arrange a possible rental with you. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, under Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679). If the request becomes a rental, the same details are used to carry out the rental and to meet our legal obligations.

We process the Google Analytics statistics only with your consent, under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Article 4(5) of Greek Law 3471/2006, to understand how the website is used and to improve it. You can withdraw your consent at any time from the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawal does not affect anything that happened before it.

We do not send advertising or newsletter emails. If we ever want to, we will ask for your explicit consent first, separately.

Who sees your data

The form details arrive as an email in the info@discoverandros.gr mailbox and are seen only by the people who run Discover Andros Rentals. They are not sold, rented or passed to third parties for commercial purposes. The only recipients apart from us are:

  • The hosting provider of the website and the mailbox, which sends and stores the form email, as a processor, with servers in the European Union
  • Google Ireland Limited, for Google Analytics, as a processor, only if you give consent
  • The competent authorities, where the law requires it

Google Analytics statistics may also be processed on servers outside the European Union, including in the United States. That transfer relies on Google LLC's certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

If your request does not become a rental, we keep the email and its details for twelve months from the request and then delete them. If it becomes a rental, the rental details are kept for as long as tax law requires. You can ask us to delete them sooner, unless the law obliges us to keep them. Google Analytics statistics are kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically. Your answer in the consent window stays in your browser for 12 months.

Cookies

The website shows no adverts and has no social media pixels. The only thing that places cookies is Google Analytics, and only if you accept it. The first time you open the website, a window asks whether you accept statistics cookies. The Accept and Decline buttons carry the same weight and nothing is preselected. Until you answer, and if you decline, no request goes to Google.

  • _ga (Google Analytics): tells visitors apart with a random identifier, so that visits can be counted. Lasts 2 years, only with consent.
  • _ga_ followed by the website's code (Google Analytics): keeps track of the current visit, so that the pages you read in it can be counted. Lasts 2 years, only with consent.
  • Your answer in the consent window (ours): remembers whether you accepted or declined, so we do not ask on every page. Lasts 12 months. It is not a cookie: it stays in your browser's local storage and never travels over the internet.

The fonts load from our own server. The map on the Contact page is an image from OpenStreetMap stored on our server and needs no consent; the Directions on Google Maps button opens Google Maps in a new tab only if you tap it. The availability form works without cookies.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict its processing, to data portability and to object. To use any of these rights, email info@discoverandros.gr or call +30 697 716 6774; we reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr, Kifisias 1-3, 115 23 Athens).

Changes to this policy

If anything changes in what we collect or in the services that load from third parties, we will update this page and its date.
